Behind the numbers, a quest for freedom.

Hey there, I’m Benjamin. If you’ve made your way here, chances are we share the same goal: taking back control of our time.

With a background as a Business Intelligence engineer and a former Director of Operations, I now serve as a CFO for an SMB. My day-to-day work is all about streamlining, structuring, and turning complex systems into simple, efficient processes.

I genuinely love what I do. But it also led me to ask myself a fundamental question: If I know how to optimize a company’s finances to make it resilient and independent, why not apply that same rigor to my own life?

The FIRE Turning Point & The Pursuit of Self-Reliance

I came across the FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early). For me, though, it was never about escaping the 9-to-5 just to lie on a beach. It was about buying choice – the power to decide my own schedule, my own projects, and what my days look like.

To make it happen, I understood that the solution wasn’t just making more money, but needing less by building my own self-reliance.

Alongside my life as a CFO, my day-to-day became a joyful exploration of self-reliance:

  • Hands-on learning: Experimenting, failing, and succeeding at growing my own garden, understanding how things work, and repairing instead of throwing away.
  • Frugal curiosity: Rethinking minimalism, space, and travel – learning to live better with less while staying closer to the elements.
  • Rooting in Quebec: Exploring the wild beauty of my adopted home, giving back through volunteering, and connecting with inspiring local communities.

Behind this journal

For a long time, LibAirté served as a traditional showcase for my consulting services. Today, I felt the need to turn it into a genuine space for sharing and expression.

I see more and more people drowning in budget management, burning out under the mental load, or believing that financial independence is reserved only for experts. That is simply not true.

Through this blog, my goal is to:

  1. Demystify finance: Share the CFO-level tools I use daily, translated into simple, human, and actionable terms for your family or small business.
  2. Document my journey: My permaculture experiments, compound interest calculations, recipes, and life reflections.
  3. Build connections: I deeply believe in the power of community and mutual support. If any of this resonates with you, I hope we can start a conversation.

How about we walk this path together?

If reading my posts makes you think: “I could really use an expert perspective on my personal finances” or “My business needs healthy financial grounding”, I’d be glad to share my expertise.

I provide constructive, personalized coaching (such as my Financial Peace of Mind framework grounded in natural cycles), and I’m always open to skill-swapping and volunteering for causes that matter.

What truly counts is taking steps toward more clarity.
